Greeks adopted the lilim and called them Lamiae, Empusae (Forcers-In), or Daughters of Hecate. Naturally, the lilim squatted on top of their victims in the position favored by ancient matriarchs. Well into the Middle Ages, the Jews were still manufacturing amulets to keep away the lilim, who were lustful she-demons given to copulating with men in their dreams, causing nocturnal emissions. The story of Lilith disappeared from the canonical Bible, but her daughters the lilim haunted men for over a thousand years. She then went on to quote The Women's Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets, by Barbara Walker: (The plural form of succubus is either succubi or succubae. People (especially women) are still claiming to be attacked by incubi while they sleep, though most people think that the succubi/incubi died out and/or went into hiding hundreds of years ago. Some people think that the Virgin Mary was impregnated by an incubus, and so Jesus is also an incubus, which in turn means that since the succubus and incubus can switch between the two forms, Jesus is also a succubus. Succubi are closely related to the Lamaie, a group of female, vampiric creatures who prey on men. The whole purpose of a succubus/incubus's life was to steal and man's seed (while they were having intercourse with him) and pass it along to a woman (again, during intercourse). It was also said that the succubus could pair with the incubus and tranform between the two forms in order to control humans better. In medievil lore succubi and incubi were blamed for wet dreams that men would have women blamed them too, but later. Later, psuedo-vampires have taken the name succubus/incubus. The succubus and incubus were originally the female and male (in that order) demons who have sexual intercourse with men and women while they sleep.
